Group F – Boring and Brilliant

With no goals to remember the Iran vs Nigeria match in Curitiba was a game that most people will quickly forget; perhaps even an argument that the World Cup has grown too large and only the best teams need apply.

Among the best are Argentina, who with a touch of Messi Magic did enough to defeat first-timers, Bosnia-Herzegovina in Rio de Janeiro.

While the target for the winner of Group F is a place in the 2014 World Cup Final, the runner-up (if they beat the winner of Group E) would be playing a quarter-final match in the Maracana.

Let’s just hope it’s neither Iran nor Nigeria.

2014 World Cup Preview – Group F

It’s hard to see anyone in Group F getting the better of Argentina but football’s a funny old game and first-timers Bosnia might not be ready to tango.

To truly be the best in the world, Lionel Messi needs to help Argentina win the World Cup. If other teams try to shackle him, Argentina have Angel Di Maria, Gonzalo Higuain and Sergio Aguero; who can all be world beaters on their day.

Bosnia-Herzegovina will have no need to panic if they lose their first World Cup Finals game, as Nigeria and Iran have to play Argentina too.

Argentina aside, Miralem Pjanic and Edin Dzeko offer the Bosnians a chance to celebrate victory against the other teams in their group; Nigeria and Iran.

They could also get a touch of the first time luckies and put one of the tournament’s favourites in a bit of a swirl.
